RBI launches Mani app to challenge currency notes



Mobile Aided Note Identifier by RBI for the visually impaired

Bank notes were introduced under the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series with changes in size and design.


November 2016. Under this new series, Banknotes in
Denominations of Rs 10, Rs.20, Rs.50, Rs.100, Rs.200 and Rs.2000 have been issued. The Reserve Bank of India has been sensitive to the challenges posed by the blind in conducting their day-to-day business with Indian banknotes. This application will help the blind identify the value of Indian banknotes of Mahatma Gandhi series and Mahatma Gandhi (new) series, which capture the image of notes placed in front of the rear mobile camera. The application will generate audio and non-sound notification informing the user to the currency note denomination.

Mumbai: To help different people, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday launched a mobile app to identify currency notes. The Union Minister said that the blind can identify the value of a note using the application, which can also work offline.


Users can download the app named 'MANI', which is an abbreviation for Mobile Aided Note Identifier, and will have to scan notes using the camera, stating that the audio output is Hindi and English to give our results. Will be in
